One hundred digital tablets have been distributed to heads of General Secondary Education (GSE) institutions. The official handover ceremony for the first batch of “Magic Boards” was presided over by the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Pauline Nalova Lyonga, on 11 April 2025 in the VIP room of the Distance Education Centre.

In total, 300 digital boards will be provided to GSE institutions as part of efforts to fast-track the digitalisation of teaching – a key development objective of the Project. These new boards will gradually replace traditional blackboards, along with their chalk and erasers.

Minister Nalova Lyonga outlined the ambition behind adopting this innovative technology, stating: “These boards are truly transformative, and Cameroon is now on par with other countries around the world. We are no longer lagging behind, and that is our ambition. Every secondary school classroom will benefit from this new approach to teaching.”

During the ceremony, MINESEC officials responsible for the Project’s first disbursement-linked indicator (DLI 1) demonstrated the features of the new equipment. The digital board is equipped with a 500GB hard drive, a high-resolution 4K camera, and integrated software. It allows users to write in multiple colours, display photos and videos, and collaborate remotely with others.

Thanks to these features, the Magic Board significantly enhances teaching and learning, making lessons clearer and more engaging for students through the use of illustrations. The new teaching tool can also connect to digital tablets and smartphones, providing rapid access to a wide range of online educational resources.
